PHILOSOPHY
Just how important are forests to our well being?
Think about it? Our forests support hundreds of thousands of plants, trees, insects, birds, mammals, and other vital living things. Consider also that our forests filter the air we breath and are the source of the water we drink.

With population densities skyrocketing and our forests being depleted at an alarming rate, it is more important then ever that we realize its value and learn to manage them with the public's general good mind.

Profitability hinders environmental priorities,  forests are not allowed to recover as it takes 70 to 100 years for a clear cut over forest to recover and in most cases the industry cannot wait that long.

Non-profit because of its nature and tax advantages allows the forest to be managed with environmental issues to be prioritized over profitability.

The Redwood Forest Institute Believes:

NON-PROFIT CORPORATIONS SUCH AS THE REDWOOD INSTITUTE IS ONE WAY THIS RESOURCE CAN BE MANAGED  FOR  PUBLIC BENEFIT.  OUR WORKING MODEL IS THE REDWOOD FOREST RANCH HEADQUARTERS IN MENDOCINO COUNTY.

  • Allow depleted forests to recover regardless of how long it takes.
  • It can hold non-profitable land as long as necessary as it does not have to make a profit on its investment.
  • Free to make environmental considerations its first priority.
  • Not be burdened with taxation.
  • Have access to free labor from the Conservation Corp., members, and other sources.
