CONSTRUCTION SKILLS - October 5, 2002

Introduction to basic construction skills desirable for self-sufficient rural living workshops as time and interest permit.

These workshops are all directed to the inexperienced and non-skilled person.  You will be surprised at how easy some of the following skills are to acquire.  State interests in application.

• Maintenance and Safe use of chainsaws. 
• Cutting of glass
• Tricks for connecting PVC pipe 
• Operating backhoe
• Soldering of copper pipe techniques
• Brazing and welding basics
• Small motor trouble shot and repair
• Falling of trees

The balance of the day will  be used for a conducted guided tour of RFI's  Headquarters  working 400 acre  self-sufficient ranch, and for recreational activities including hikes and overview of some of the other activities on site.  For those camping overnight and or those who wish to stay over for evening entertainment, there will be a campfire with music, stories, and discussion of environmental issues with a focus on what is happening in the redwood forest and what RFI is doing about it.  Bring an instrument if you have one.
